What makes Face Tan Water so effortless to use is its featherlight, non-greasy texture. Organic aloe vera and plant-based glycerin form the moisturizing base, while hyaluronic acid additionally helps bind water in the skin. The non-comedogenic formula is therefore also very well suited to combination, oily and blemish-prone skin - exactly the skin types for which classic creamy self-tanners are often too rich for the face.

Key Ingredients

• Sugarcane-derived DHA: Dihydroxyacetone reacts with amino acids in the uppermost layer of the skin, gradually creating a tanned tone there - entirely without UV radiation. Because Face Tan Water works gradually, the color intensity is especially easy to control and can be deepened slowly with additional applications.
• Organic Aloe Vera & Plant-Based Glycerin: Aloe vera juice is the first ingredient in the formula and, together with glycerin, forms the moisturizing base. Both help retain water in the skin and make the self-tanner feel more like a lightweight skincare toner than a classic tanning cream.
• Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic acid binds moisture at the skin's surface, supporting a smoother, plumper skin feel. It is particularly useful here because it provides hydration without adding extra oils or a heavy texture to the formula.

Application

• It is best applied in the evening to freshly cleansed, completely dry skin.
• Distribute evenly over the face, neck and décolleté with your hands. For the face, Eco By Sonya recommends approximately one teaspoon; use a corresponding additional amount for the neck and décolleté.
• Then wash your fingers thoroughly, especially between the fingers and on the palms.
• For the initial build-up, use on several consecutive days until the desired tan is achieved.
• To maintain the color, use approximately two to three times a week.
• For a more intense result, two even layers can be applied directly one after the other.
• Ideally exfoliate at least 24 hours beforehand so the tan develops as evenly as possible.
• Do not apply facial oils directly after Face Tan Water. Incorporate oil-based products into your routine later so they do not affect the development of the tan.

Which self-tanner is right for me?

Eco By Sonya's self-tanners mainly differ in color intensity, texture and application method. This makes it possible to choose a tan that suits your skin tone and how quickly and intensely you want the result to develop.

Winter Skin is the gentlest and easiest-to-control option. The nourishing body lotion gradually builds the tan with each application and is therefore especially suitable for fair skin, self-tanning beginners or a very natural glow. It can also be used to refresh an existing holiday tan or self-tan without any fuss.

Invisible Tan develops a visible, warm and golden tan after just one application. The rich cream feels like a nourishing body lotion and is particularly well suited to medium to olive skin tones and drier skin. Ideal if you want to moisturize in the evening and wake up more tanned the next morning.

Cacao Tanning Mousse is the right choice if you prefer the light, fast-drying texture of a mousse. It develops a medium to more intense, warm bronze tan and can be spread particularly quickly over larger areas of the body - convenient when you want a more noticeable result while keeping the texture lightweight.

Hempitan Body Tan Water is the most intense option in the range. The ultra-light spray dries almost instantly and develops a deep, longer-lasting bronze tan, without feeling like a cream or mousse on the skin. It is particularly suitable if you want a darker tan with as little product feel as possible.

FAQ

How intense is the tan from Face Tan Water?
The tan builds gradually and is therefore very easy to control. One application provides a softer glow; with multiple applications or two layers applied consecutively, the result becomes more intense.

How quickly will I see a result?
The color develops over several hours after application. For the initial build-up, application on several consecutive days is recommended; after that, two to three applications per week are usually enough to maintain the desired tan.

What is the difference between this and self-tanning drops?
Face Tan Water does not need to be mixed with a cream or serum first. It is applied directly like a toner and therefore always provides a ready-to-use, consistently formulated concentration - especially convenient if you do not want to measure drops every time you self-tan.

Is Face Tan Water also suitable for oily and blemish-prone skin?
Yes. The formula is non-comedogenic and contains no rich oil or cream base. This is precisely why Face Tan Water is an appealing self-tanning option for combination skin, oily skin and skin that is prone to blemishes.

Do I still need a moisturizer afterward?
That depends on your skin. Aloe vera, glycerin and hyaluronic acid already provide hydration in the formula. Normal to oily skin may be comfortable with it on its own; dry skin can apply a lightweight moisturizer afterward. However, oil-based skincare should not be applied immediately after Face Tan Water.

Can I also use Face Tan Water on my neck and décolleté?
Yes. We actually recommend it so the transition from the face to the body looks natural. Blend carefully, especially along the hairline, eyebrows and jawline.

Do I have to apply Face Tan Water with a cotton pad?
No - it is better to use your hands. A cotton pad absorbs some of the liquid and makes it more difficult to apply a sufficiently generous and even amount.

Does tanned skin protect against the sun?
No. The tan produced by DHA does not provide sufficient protection against UV radiation. Suitable sun protection should therefore still be used during the day.
